I’ll be honest: NieR:Automata is pure indulgence for me. I just like getting lost in this universe. It’s surreal, cerebral, and yes, we all know we’re here for 2B and her beautiful sword. YoRHa: Pearl Harbor Descent Record feels like more excellent content to scratch that itch the game leaves behind. For some reason, I can’t quite make myself completely finish the game, the anime, or even chase down more of the manga, and I think it’s because part of me doesn’t want it to end. I’m intentionally leaving blank lines to be filled in later. It’s not that I don’t love it; it’s that I’m not racing to the end on this one, and I’ve never really experienced that before. Something about the whole series has this timeless, futurist, alive energy that is worth exploring slowly, one strange little moment at a time.
